Sustainable Housing and Pathways to Homeownership

Financial Literacy Education
In partnership with M&T Bank, RCSG offers financial literacy classes and first-time homeownership workshops that focus on wealth and credit building, empowering returning citizens with the tools to develop healthy financial habits and pursue homeownership. Our step-by-step approach equips returning citizens with the foundation to move from transitional housing to homeownership, closing wealth gaps and advancing equity in our communities.
Emergency Housing
When resources allow, RCSG will sponsor hotel stays during emergencies or connect participants with local housing shelters.

Supportive Housing
RCSG Restorative Justice Healing Home
We are purchasing our first residential property in Newark, which will serve as the Restorative Justice Healing Home—a supportive housing program with wraparound services where returning citizens can heal from trauma and create the stability needed for successful reentry.
Rental Assistance
RCSG partners with local agencies to connect returning citizens to rental assistance and housing voucher programs.

Long-Term Housing
Ubuntu Village
In collaboration with Nehemiah Housing, a Brooklyn-based developer, we are advancing the Ubuntu Village Project, a 42-unit affordable housing development in Newark. Twenty-five percent of the units will be reserved for returning citizens, ensuring long-term affordability and stability.

Pathways to Homeownership
RCSG promotes pathways to homeownership through workshops and financial literacy classes that prepare returning citizens to pursue homeownership and build generational wealth.
